Weekend at Home – Sunday November 14, 2010

I spent the weekend working around the house and on the motorhome.

On the motorhome I put in an electrical management system which will protect the coaches electrical system.  It seems that more state and federal parks are not able to keep their electrical systems up to date.  This electical management system will check to ensure the incoming electrical system is grounded and wired correctly.  It will also ensure we do not get any volt spikes and low voltage situations.  When the voltage drops below 104 volts this system will disconnect from the incoming electricity.  This is important because the A/C system and microwave will operate below 104 volts however the low voltage will burn up the motors.  The A/C units are over $3000.00 a piece to get fixed.  After a couple minutes the system will sample the incoming electricity to see if  it’s above the 104 threshold.  One of those investments that may save a bunch of money.  While we at Zion this fall the electrical system at Watchman Campground over heated and shut down.  It took them most of the afternoon and digging up a bunch of power lines to get it back up and running.

Also finished the mounting bracket for the catalytic heater fan.   I will post pictures of this fan system on my website later this winter.

I did some work on the website, spent 4 hours review fall vacation pictures and got 121 posted on the site.  I didn’t get many captions added the pictures explaining where and when they were taken, a project for another rainy weekend.  You can find this google slide shows at this link. This trip is listed as Vacation Fall 2010.  Have a great week.

Changed the UTC time setting to match Pacific standard time.  I think, it is about 10:20 p.m., we’ll see what time come out on this post.

Again have a GREAT week, Harry
