Sparks, NV – Wednesday November 8, 2017

It is a good thing we did the long drive and got here yesterday.  The weather has moved in with some snow and a lot of wind in the Sierra Mountains. It looks like it will be Friday, Saturday or Sunday before the weather clears in the Sierra’s and then we get to deal with the Siskiyou’s.

While I was eating lunch the other day I noticed this on the jar of pickles I was eating.
Notice these pickles are a product of India.
Here is the front of the jar.
Farman’s pickles was started in Enumclaw, Washington.  We lived in Enumclaw until I was eight years old and I can remember the smell of pickles and chlorine as we swam in Pete’s Pool.  The main road at that edge of town is still called Pickle Factory Road.
Farman’s was purchased by Nalley’s of Tacoma and now it looks like several other companies after that.  By the way they still taste the same as they did 60 year’s ago.

Sparks, NV – Tuesday November 7, 2017

Our original plan was to drive to Lodi, Ca on Tuesday and then on to Sparks on Wednesday.  Winter weather is moving in Wednesday morning so we decided to drive all the way to Sparks on Tuesday, 500 miles. We were up at 5:00 a.m. and moving at 5:30 a.m. and got to Richard and Vickie’s at 4:30 p.m., I was tired.

This is our campsite for a couple of days.
They live on a hill and it takes a couple of blocks to get level.

Spark’s, NV – Sunday August 31, 2014

We all went to the Reno City Park which has a lake to Paddle Board.  Vicki took up paddle boarding a couple of months ago and she let me use her board while two of her friends came with their boards. It was great fun and I didn’t fall in the water.  That is really quite good for me because I don’t have the greatest sense of balance. I got up and down maybe 10 times and managed to keep myself dry.

While Vicki and I were paddle boarding Jean and Richard looked at RV’s.  Jean didn’t find anything she liked better than our current motorhome.

Spark’s, NV – Saturday August 30, 2014

We went to the Reno BBQ Ribs Cook Off in downtown Reno in the area around the Nugget Casino.  Looked around at a lot of the craft vendors there must have been well over 100.  It was hot and all ribs venders wanted between $7.00 to $11.00 to try a sampler of four ribs so we went inside the casino and had a nice lunch with air conditioning.
