Caballo State Park – T or C, NM – Tuesday October 19, 2021

This is why we moved south.

At Cochiti the forecast is:

A couple of hundred miles south

Home on wheels we might as well be warm. In previous years we would travel without reservations or a day or two ahead. This year I set down while at Cochiti and made reservations through the middle of November when we have to start looking at the weather in the California mountains.

Caballo State Park – T or C, NM – Monday October 19, 2021

This blog is going up a little at a time. I wrote it once and it would not upload, that usually means something is wrong with one of the pictures. I’ll do the text then go back and upload the pictures.

This is our drive south looking for warmer weather.

We have been here several times before and enjoy the large sites. Currently plan to stay for two weeks and will be in three sites. The first one is site 30 until Friday.

Done , uploaded one picture at a time.

Caballo State Park River Side, NM – Friday October 20, 2017

Worked on the coach today.

When we left Zion the left turn signal on the pickup was not working when it was being towed.  When I set pickup up for towing I put in a separate light system.

At Lee’s Ferry I figured out that power was not coming out of the coach.  At Sky City I found a broken wire under the coach frame.
This wire was cut at one end and hanging by a few stands on the other end.  The nickel is for size. This morning we drive to Walmart for groceries and wire to fix the flasher.
The only color Walmart had was red and black, hopefully red will work.
The yellow turn signal wire was broken on both sides of the main frame. It looks like the wire was pinched to cause the separation. The upper picture also shows a green wire with some sharp bends in it where it has been pinched.  I don’t see a pinch point where the wire could have been pinched, maybe this happen when the coach was assembled.   Don’t know.
Anyway I spliced in a piece red wire and the light on the pickup worked.

Had the pickup along side the coach so I could see the taillights from the coach driver’s seat.

Caballo State Park River Side, NM – Thursday October 19, 2017

Today’s map.
The drive.
In site 74.
If you go to the table area and go to the left you’ll see the river.
Today was the first time we had to go to three Campgrounds to find a site. Stopped at Elephant Butte, they had a couple of sites however they were on steep hills. Caballo Lake sites were all full, we found a place at Caballo River Side which is below the dam an right on the Rio Grande River.

Had a big thunder storm in the evening including a little hail.

Caballo State Park, NM – Sunday October 23, 2016

In site 19.
We were here last year however this year we can see the Lake.
Don’t know how long we will be here.  Part of the plan is to go to Las Cruses for a couple of days.  This is the closest state park we could get into, the drive from here isn’t much different than driving to Seattle from our big house.  The weather is the important part, 86 today ( Monday) and lower 80’s the rest of the week.

Caballo Lake SP, NM – Sunday November 1, 2015

In camp all day currently watching the Seahawks game.  This will be our last day in New Mexico for a while, we are currently planning on attending the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta next October. We will be leaving early tomorrow morning for Phoenix and Lost Dutchman SP, it will be an 8 to 9 hour day on the road.
During the last 14 months and our three trips south we have spent 65 nights in New Mexico.  We will spend the next two and a half weeks in Arizona and then home for Thanksgiving.
