Antifreeze on the ground.

Not a lot of antifreeze but to much to drive back to Page on 100 degree day.
This morning we found out a fan blade broke and went into the radiator. One Workhorse radiator in Arizona ( couldn’t find a Chevy crossover unit) and several fans, maybe here tomorrow.
Shorter drive today than the original planned.

We were 10 miles outside Page after a Walmart stop when we heard a Big Bang, (spell check wants capital letters) at the front of the coach. First thought it was a tire but steering was fine. Again we had coach problems where their was a place to pull off the road. Walked around coach and found antifreeze dripping in the front.

This is the drive for the day

And repair shop we will be at for several days.

We are fine coach will need some work.

Just as the sun started to leave the river. 102 today in sunny dry heat.
Up early today and 292 miles to Lee’s Ferry for two nights. We got one of the two front row sites overlooking the Colorado River. The current plan is to be here for two nights then move to Gooseneck State Park in Utah. Temperature today is 98 and 103 tomorrow, parked so the refrigerator has afternoon shade.
The drive.

These front row sites have a large covered area and beautiful view of the river and hills.
378 miles to nice quiet rest stop out in the middle of nowhere. We have stayed here several times.

Tonight we are at a Rest Stop 10 Miles east of Glenns Ferry, ID. Nice drive today if you don’t count the three cans of pop which came rolling the length of the coach when I had to make a quicker then normal stop while coming through Boise. Oh yes, all three opened up on the trip from back to the front.

Campsite picture and the windmills out the front window.

The 100,000 way point was from April 7, 2018 on our way north.

First day of our fall trip. We are headed to northern New Mexico for a couple of weeks fishing and than Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta.
Stopped at the Garcia’s on our way through the Tri-Cities.

Tomorrow will end just this side of Boise, ID. I have mapped out five days of driving and we have until September 11th to get to Cottonwood Campground on the San Juan River just below the Navajo Lake Dam.
A couple of years ago I thought my overnight hiking into the mountains was over and looked at my shelves of hiking/camping gear and thought about getting rid of it all. Last Christmas Brian asked as part of my Christmas gift if I’d be interested in going hiking with him, yes. Being in my late sixties ( I just found out that I’m in my late sixties ) I mapped out a four hiking days three night trip. Started at Chinook Pass and went south to Dewey Lake (south end of the lake), American Lake, Dewey Lake (north end of the lake).
It was a great hike with Brian and we plan to do it again next year.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all sunny days and Thursday morning started with thick fog. By the time we got up the hill out of Dewey Lake the fog had lifted and we had some nice views during out hike out to the pass.
Home projects for the motor home.
The storage drawer under Jean’s dinette seat quit rolling on the aluminum track runner. It wasn’t the drawer we open the most so I ask Jean if we could wait until we got home and I had more of my tools.

The aluminum has stretched and rolled down.

I had some angled aluminum so cut a piece and pop riveted it onto the original track.

After I finished the first side I checked the other drawer and it had the same problem it just hadn’t bent all the way down. I fixed this side with a piece of word to support the bottom of the runner.
At Christmas time I put new springs into one end of the couch. During this trip the springs I put in at Christmas moved and created some holes in the sitting area.
I added some screws and more hog rings, hopefully the springs will stop moving.
After we got home the support arm coming off the step gear box broke. I found a replacement gearbox which used steel rather than then pot metal the original gearbox had on it.
Pot metal is steel which is cast in a mold and when done quickly often has weak structure in it and is not as strong as rolled or stamped steel.
