Crazy Horse Walk to the Top – Saturday June 2, 2018

Sorry these are not links the app I use on my iPad wants me to type out the link and my laptop doesn’t seem to want work today.

Beaverhead River, Fishing – Saturday June 9, 2018

Had a good time fishing for the first hour or so, then the wind came up and could not keep the hooks and line out of the brush.
When I got to the parking area it sounded like it was going to be great day.  Their was a guy who was come back to his truck to get a heavier rod.  He had hooked an amazing fish on his first cast of the day and was unable to land it so he was coming back for heavier rod.
I did not see any fish or have any strikes.  After lunch I ran into the guy from the parking lot, he was with two other people and one fish they got first thing in the day was the only fish they saw.

10 minute map.

Uploaded data map.
Where I was from the campground.

Beaverhead River, Fishing – Friday June 8, 2018

I got to go fishing today.  The guide we talked to will at the Bighorn River said the rivers were flowing at a 100 year level and the Beaverhead River was the best bet for fishing.
The water is clear but I did not have one strike, saw two.

I did track by fishing with the InReach satellite system.
This track is from the units 10 minute tracking.  Every 10 minutes it transmits it’s location to a satellite and it is record real time on a view able map.
The InReach unit records where it is each minute and stores that information inside the unit.  I can upload this information to the mapping system through my laptop.
Here is that map.
I don’t know why it produces the false locations like to ones high on the map away from the river, but sometimes it does.

Beaverhead River – Dillon, MT – Wednesday June 6, 2018

Happy Birthday to my daughter-in-law Christine.

Stopped at Les Schwab in Butte to get the flat tire fixed. They fixed the tire everything else was subpar work. People who know how to do their job are getting hard to find. One tech worked hard but had limited knowledge, the other was arrogant and lazy.

Today’s drive:

We are at Barrett Park south of Dillon.

Campground road, railroad (two tracks), I-15 so far not to noisy.

Having some great lighting while I’m writing this.

Bighorn River, MT – Monday June 4, 2018

Heading west to Montana looking for water without mud.

Campsite right at the boat launch, I stopped here to go look at the campground area and notice we had a flat outside dual tire.

I will go over our experience with AAA later. Customer service over the phone is mostly worthless, AAA call center in Utah said I was fifty miles away from one of their contract provides so I just needed to fix it myself.

Crazy Horse Walk to the Top – Saturday June 2, 2018

Twice a year you can walk to the top of Crazy Horse, first weekend in June and in September.

This is the flyer for the 6.2 mile walk to Crazy Horse.  The walk runs you out into the woods for a ways so they can get the 6.2 miles.

It was actually pretty cool to be able to walk all the way up onto Crazy Horse.

Keystone & Mt. Rushmore – Friday June 1, 2018

Couple of things we wanted to see in Keystone the town right next to Mt. Rushmore.  1) the National Presidential Wax Museum (or so they call themselves) 2) the Big Thunder Gold mine 3) Borglum Museum.

The presidential wax museum was worth the time.

The wax figures for the most part were amazing and they had a story/information on all the presidents.

The Big Thunder Gold Mine was fun and interesting.

The Borglum Museum was a bust for us, it closed at 3:00 with the last tour starting at 2:00, we got there about 3:15.

and we did the night time lighting of Mt Rushmore.

Deadwood, SD – Thursday May 31, 2018

This is Deadwood day. We went to Deadwood just so I could say I had been there.  We ended up seeing a really cool museum and took the trolley tour of town.

Deadwood’s claim to fame is as the town Wild Bill Hickok was shoot and killed.

One of the saloons does a Wild Bill Hickok shooting 4 times a day, Vickie volunteered to play a part in the one we went too.

One of the stores had a train set in the basement.

Today is my birthday ( 68 ) and this is where we went to dinner, it was a really good dinner and a lot of fun.

This is the campsite next to us, yes they have a hammock with one end tied to the power box.
