Replace Refrigerator Cooling Unit – Wednesday, September 3, 2025

It is time to change the cooling unit on the back of the refrigerator. The coach is a 2004, I replaced the cooling unit in 2014 and now in 2025.

I built this structure so I can slide the refrigerator out of it’s hole and then lay it down on the front to take the cooling unit off the back.

After I got the two pieces in of the support deck in the coach I screwed the top onto the base.

This is the old unit that needs to be replaced.

Got the old unit off, cleaned up, a Thermal mastic spread where the cooling tubes will contact the internal refrigerator box metal fins.

With Brian’s help I got the old unit off and the new unit on the back of the refrigerator box. It was a stuggle to get the cooling unit onto the plastic refrigerator box. The box was a little wider then the new unit, may be that over time the plastic box has spread some, it is 21 years old.

These are the internal fans I put in the refrigerator to blow air across the fins. I did this a couple of years ago. Also, have a fan down lower to push the cold air up from the bottom of the refrigerator.

Ruby Creek, Mt – Thursday June 19, 2025

Summer is here, at least for a while, it is going to cool off in a couple of days. Decided it was going to be too hot for me to fish today. I have never enjoyed the sun and heat and I’m trying to act my age. Yesterday I had to look for a while to find a place in the shade to eat lunch. Between the mosquitoes and the Salmon Flies I had look for a spot with shade and no bugs. Oh yes, yesterday was the first day of Salmon Flies.

The river is dropping and getting warmer. Here’s the river over the last 30 days.

Over the last week.

Up above the lake just outside the park the river has really warmed up. The river water below the dam comes out of the bottom of the lake so it is still ice cold. We are 30 miles below the dam so water hasn’t heated up above the restricted temperature but it is warm nun the less.

Yesterday I noticed birds starting to build a nest in the coach exhaust pipe

This is hard to see but huge flock of birds flew over head for 10 minutes.

After the flock left this hawk flew around for a while.
