Starvation State Park, UT – Thursday June 7, 2012
We spent the last day of vacation setting in the sun at Starvation State Park on northeastern Utah.
Didn’t do much, walk in the morning and that’s about it.
Hank is focus of pictures again:

Did you want to rub a tummy?
Humans do have at least one purpose for being here.

Dinosaur Natl Monument, UT – June 5, 2012
Got here this morning drove all but the last 30 miles yesterday. We are 475 miles north and East of Zion.
Here is the visitors center and metal dinosaur which is out front.
The dinosaur,

I took a few pictures at the dinosaur display building but we’ll have to wait until I got them off my camera.
Here’s a hot Hank, he threw his ball as far as he could and fell over.

Or maybe he is starting to melt.
Forgot to put in campsite pictures:

Zion Natl Park, UT – Saturday June 2, 2012
Spent most of the day at camp. Listen to Saturday morning radio shows Car Talk and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me ( reruns) and then the baseball game.
I spent most of the day learning to use new photo editing software, Adobe Photo Elements 10. I have a long way to go but I can at least get a photo from my camera to this blog.
Today’s picture is of the trail to Angel’s Landing.

Zion Natl Park, Another Milestone – Friday June 1, 2012
May 31 is my birthday and this year I’m 62, one of those mathematical milestones.
Here are several picture documenting how I became a “Senior” today.
For my birthday Jean gave me $10.00.
I took this $10.00 to the Zion entrance gate and purchased my Senior Pass which is one time purchase for Life Time entry into all national parks or until October 30, 2028.

The pass also gives us a 50% discount on many of the National Park camp grounds. Anyway now I am eligible to draw Social Security and I have a government document which says I’m a Senior (that’s with a capital “S”)
ZION FRIDAY 6/1/2012
It is going to be 101 today and it was 100 yesterday, VACATION.
Today’s picture(s) are from the West Rim trail above Angel’s Landing. I took the 6:00 a.m. bus up the canyon and spent the morning on the trail above Angel’s Landing taking pictures and hoping the condors I saw last year would come back. They didn’t.
Over the winter I bought myself a new toy, a Canon 60d and a couple of lens. The walk around lens is 18-200mm and the big toy is a 150-500mm. The first picture is of Angel’s Landing at 150mm.

I think this lens is going to be a lot of fun and great to take pictures of birds and other animals.
Zion Natl Park, UT – Wednesday May 30, 2012
This was a hiking day. Got up at 5:15 am to catch the 6:00 bus up the canyon. I think there were 8 people on the early bus.
Hiked up the West side trail, this goes UP the west canyon wall and past Angel’s Landing. Stopped about half way to the West rim and spent a couple of hours wandering and around taking pictures, think l took 300.
Picture of the day is our evening view, 8:00 pm and its 80°.
Zion Natl Park, UT – Thursday May 31, 2012
Today’s picture is of the Zion Canyon Field Institute’s schedule/flyer for 2012.
In 2010 Tanya and I took a day trip up the Virgin River with the Field Institute. One of the group took a group picture which has become the promotional piece for the last two years. Last year the schedule was printed on 1/3 sheet and this year it’s a 8.5 X 11 sheet.
