Eugene, OR – Monday February 22, 2016

We are starting our southern trip to Peoria, Arizona for Mariner’s Spring Training.
Here is our campsite picture for today. We are at a rest stop just north of Eugene Oregon.  It was almost 11:00 before we left home and got here at 5:30. 
Little rain in Washington and clear sunny skies all day in Oregon.  Not much else going on just driving in the sun.  Will continue south to Red Buff or so tomorrow.

Here are our travels this Fall.

Travels since retirement.

Mt. Shasta our last morning on the road.

When we got home last year I designed and installed a mounting bracket on the motorhome for our satellite TV antenna. I wasn’t sure how will it would take the wind on the roof of the motorhome so I put it between the airconditioners. I figured this would take care of the wind problem but wasn’t to sure that the airconditioners would not interfere with the satellite reception. It worked great, during the whole trip I did not have to remove the dish and all the mounting screws stayed nice and tight.

Motorhome projects after this trip:
Restring side window of livingroom slide.
Fix hotwater heater, quit four days before we got home.
Fix or replace water pump, it runs for a second about every hour or so.
Change oil
New air filter
Reseal kitchen sink strainer

We will be leaving during the third week of February for Peoria, AZ and Mariner’s Spring Training.

 

Boron, CA – Friday November 20, 2015

We are at a rest stop on Hwy 58 100 miles east of Bakersfield.  We got here at 2:30 p.m. and unfortunately to move on we would end up in the area north of Bakersfield on I-5 looking for a place to spend the night.  I think the rest stops are pretty busy in that area.

This rest stop has a great place where we can have the bedroom slide out tonight and not have someone knock it off, should be a good night.

Here are our travels for the day.

Where we are, think I saw a B-1 bomber flying in as we were getting close of Edwards.

It was 79 degrees when we got here.  I was reading Facebook and here is a picture a Tim Yerdon (Navy friend) from Sioux Falls, South Dakota posted this morning,

At least day was warm and sunny, it was a good day.

We do need to get on the stick snow is coming to the Siskiyous Monday or Tuesday.

 

Buckskin Mountain SP, AZ – Thursday November 19, 2015

I spent some time working on the hot water heater. When Jean washed dinner dishes the other night all she had was cold water.  After testing different components I think the main controller board is out.  When we get home I’ll redo all the tests and than order a new board.  Oh, well.

Tomorrow morning we leave for home.  We will be driving and staying in rest stop and/or Walmart’s until we get home to the cold.  It has been a good trip.

Home – Trip Wrap Up – Thursday November 17, 2016

Today is the last day of our fall trip.
First we had to move to a site by the road to dump the holding tanks.
Then we were on the road.
The pass was a little if’y so we drove around.
This pictures shows how the InReach track looks better once I upload the data inside the unit.

Buckskin Mountain SP, AZ – Tuesday November 17, 2015

Visited Lake Havasu with the primary goal to visit The London Bridge.
We made it to town in time for the Walking London Bridge tour.  It was 90 walking tour around the bridge with a lot of interesting stories.
The bridge was purchased for 2.4 million.  Only the outside skin of this bridge is actually  from the London Bridge.
Here is a picture of the outer shell to show the thickness.  All the stones were numbered and shipped.
They left some of the numbers.

What looks like stone under the bridge is actually concrete colored to match the original stone on the sides.
The goal was to give the town a tourist draw and help raise property prices in hopes the town would continue to grow.  The bridge was purchased for 2.4 million and the granite which was not sent to Lake Havasu was sold in Europe for 2.4 million to people who wanted a piece of the bridge.
This is the original color of the bridge after several hundred years of London’s pollution, the bridge was cleaned and sun bleached.
