Home projects for the motor home.
The storage drawer under Jean’s dinette seat quit rolling on the aluminum track runner. It wasn’t the drawer we open the most so I ask Jean if we could wait until we got home and I had more of my tools.

The aluminum has stretched and rolled down.

I had some angled aluminum so cut a piece and pop riveted it onto the original track.

After I finished the first side I checked the other drawer and it had the same problem it just hadn’t bent all the way down. I fixed this side with a piece of word to support the bottom of the runner.
Couch springs
At Christmas time I put new springs into one end of the couch. During this trip the springs I put in at Christmas moved and created some holes in the sitting area.
I added some screws and more hog rings, hopefully the springs will stop moving.
Steps
After we got home the support arm coming off the step gear box broke. I found a replacement gearbox which used steel rather than then pot metal the original gearbox had on it.
Pot metal is steel which is cast in a mold and when done quickly often has weak structure in it and is not as strong as rolled or stamped steel.

I decided they needed to be replaced and did not reinstall the original ones.

As you can see in this picture these pieces have two angles on them. Their is a 10 degree angle from the outside edge up to the inside edge and also the inside of the molding has a 10 degree angle coming down from the main pillar. Last winter I cut all the pieces of molding out of lengths 2X4’s and over the last couple of days I got them painted and install on the porch.

I poured two additional footings so the weight of the stairs would have a good foundation to set against. I also additional concrete at the bottom of the stair runners so the runners were setting on concrete and would not touch any dirt. The bottom/base of the stair runners were mostly setting on the basement floor however about an inch was touching the dirt. This was enough to draw moisture and over the years cause the bottom couple of inches to start to rot. My guess is these where put in during the 1935 remodel or before.
I don’t think these are going to go anywhere soon.
Steps are 2 X 10’s.
Not bad, took the tiles off the original steps with a couple we had left from the 2004 remodel. When I was done it looked like I hadn’t done a thing.

I started this project at 9:30 a.m. and finished at 8:30 p.m. . It was a real challenge getting the nails out from the area under the eves. All and all a long day. Here’s the finished porch.
Here’s a couple of pictures taken during a “Home improvement” project.

On Sunday I chiseled out the old cement patches in the driveway and replaced with new patching cement. Here’s the area I chiseled out.
I mixed 80 pound of patch cement to fill these and many other cracks.
