Got to fish today, didn’t catch much but it was a really nice day to be on the river.
This afternoon I moved Starlink Dishy from the pole on the back of the coach to the picnic table. The weather forcast for Saturday is for winds 10 to 20 with gusts to 40. With the dish on the table if the wind does get really stiff it is much easier to put away from the table then handling the dish on a pole on the back of the coach.
The other day we got a software update for Starlink and now when the dish fires up every morning it goes to this flat position and then moves to it’s normal position facing north.
The other day I had ask Jean what these were for, she said they had something to do with fishing. It took a couple of days but I finally figured it out.
They are to hold my rod and keys when I go fishing. My rod is held so it can not get stepped on and/or broken and I cannot lock my keys in the pickup by mistake. Laying the pickup keys down and then closing the pickup door before picking them up again can lead to a very long day.
At least the river is starting to point in the right direction, DOWN.
We have had a lot of sun between the thunderstorms and that does help to keep the batteries charged. This 120 watt solar panel will charge the batteries or if we are not drawing much of load from the batteries. We have four 6 volt AGM batteries wired in pairs to give us quite a bit of 12 volt storage. This trip we have had the Starlink on all day and it draws about 4.5 continuous amps. Every other day or so we need to run a generator to top off the batteries.
Monday June 10, 2024 was moving day. We moved 6 miles down the river back to Ruby Creek site 15 for the next 2 weeks.
This was an all day event. At 9:00 a.m., I drove down to Ruby Creek to get a campsite, got one of the two sites we like the most. There was actually only one other site in use (site 17, where we were two weeks ago) so I left a chair at site 15 and headed back to Palisades to get Jean, Marley and the coach. The next stop was Ennis to dump, get water and groceries. Back to Ruby Creek and we were all set by 4:25 p.m.
Nice sunny day and we are looking forward to nice weather for the next week.
The river is a little clearer down here as long as I stay above Ruby Creek.
This shows where the creek enters the river.
We have lots of company here. The last people left dog food in the fire pit. I’m pretty sure it will all be gone my tomorrow morning.
Here are some of the flower pictures I took the other day. I think this is a Rocky Mountain Iris (Iris missouriensis).
In the WordPress editor all these pictures are right next to each other, it will be interesting to see if there is space between them when the post goes live. I have a lot to learn and/or relearn.
And here are a couple of more eagle pictures.
I found this picture while looking through the picture folders on this laptop. I cry every time I look at it.
Sunday turned out to be a nice sunny day. (Edit – the evening turned into thunder storms passing through the valley, I took Starlink dish down because I didn’t want to take a chance of hail damaging it. “We” never got any hail but it sure rained HARD. )
Figured out how to upload pictures to the WordPress media gallery for future use. Now I can edit pictures on a Windows machine, upload to the WordPress gallery and hopefully add them to a post from a Chromebook..
Saturday afternoon I got my Cannon 60D out to take some flower pictures. Here are a couple a pictures I found on the camera, from 2020 I think.
I forgot to insert a Pagagraph between the first two pictures, Oh, well I eventually get it.
After a few flower pictures an eagle parked itself in a tree on the other side of the river. I dug out my 500mm lens and took a bunch of pictures, here are a couple. Oh, yes – here is a picture of the eagle. I was going to upload several pictures but it looks I didn’t, I’ll add some more tomorrow and also some flower pictures. All the original pictures are on my Windows machine and it’s asleep.
This morning’s view with my coffee. It is pleasantly warm today and looking forward to a great day.
Water flow is still on the rise.
Another beautiful morning on the Madison River. The river is still high and dirty which is caused by the sunny warm weather we are enjoying.
I don’t remember if (I start a lot of sentences this way) I mentioned I saw a moose on the other side of the river a couple of days ago. That is a bad sentence, really bad sentence with four “I’s” in it.
Another great day, we are into summer weather in Montana. With the warm weather the river gets more water and dirt. Fish hunker down and wait for the river to slow down and clear.
Spent multiple hours today watching WordPress videos on how to use the program. I learned a lot, now I need to put it all into practice. (Saturday 6/8/24) I just figured out how to connect WordPress to Google Drive, upload Iphone photos to Google Drive into a specific folder and than put the photo or screen shot into a post. I just did this with the above water flow report, now can I do this tomorrow.
Working on this post. Created this as a draft to insert pictures from my phone before the text, however I could not see this post when I went to my phone. I am going to try publishing this and then going to my phone. We’ll see what happens.
Publishing the pictures to this post from my Iphone looks like it will allow me to put text into the post.
I added this smart shunt a couple of months ago. It gives me a lot more information and I can monitor the batteries from my phone or Ipad.
We do have a 120w portable solar panel which supplies us with some of our power.
This is the view from the front of the coach. I spent quite a bit of time today sitting here and editing photos. It was a beautiful warm sunny day.
This is a Rocky Mountain Iris,
Don’t know what this, just a pretty blue flower.
More Iris’s
Got to work on the Iphone focus.
This is one of the official river flow gauges, Cameron is just down river from us.
My view from the shade next to the coach.
I did learn when I’m putting the pictures in I need to insert a Paragraph Block in between each picture. Oh well, I’ll figure it out in time.
Remember many of my older posts are at harrylange.wordpress.com we did a lot of traveling before I got harrylange.com. Chromebook and I are starting to get along better.
