Orland, CA – Monday February 12, 2018

Yes we are still at the same rest stop as last night.

Sunday evening when I want out to check the engine oil level I saw brake fluid on the inside of the front tires.  The driver’s side had more than the passenger side but the both had fluid on the tire and a small line running down on the rotors.
I looked on the internet for truck / RV repair places and didn’t come up with any place that really stood out.  I did find that both Orland and Corning have Les Schwab stores.  This morning we drove to the Les Schwab in Corning to have the brakes look at.

The calipers and brake fittings are not leaking, couldn’t find a place where any was coming out.  It looks like the guy who did the brake job at Christmas got a lot of brake fluid on the inside of the wheel rim and with the brakes warming up coming down out of the Siskiyou’s this fluid flowed down onto the tire and onto the rotor.

We spent the afternoon at a rest stop north of Corning and are now back at the rest stop south of Corning.  Tomorrow (Tuesday 2/13/2018) we will drive to Boron, Ca.

While we were in Corning we did stop at the Olive Pit and purchased a few olives.  The Washington delivery will not be made until the end of April, sorry for the delay.
Short travels today.

Orland, CA – Sunday February 11, 2018

Forgot to take campsite picture again today. We got here at 4:15, Hank and I walked around the rest stop several times and I never thought of taking the picture.

The weather report for the Siskiyou’s is for snow late tonight into Monday morning so we drove thru and got south of the winter weather. Looks like our spring has arrived and in a couple of days we will be into summer weather.

Update – drive through Siskiyou’s, glad we beat the snow.

Heading South For Baseball and Sun – Thursday February 8, 2018

Our current plan is to leave Saturday for the trip south to Peoria and a month of Mariner’s baseball.   This year we were able to get Spring Training Season Tickets and saved almost $300.00 in the ticket price.

I got a lot of things done to the motor home during our time at the big house.

Coach got:
A radiator flush, all new hoses and belts, spark plugs and wires.
New brakes and rotors all around.
Fixed the furnace again, this time I replaced the burner.
Restrung the window blind over the couch.
Couch got 3 new springs on the end we set on the most.
New sink faucet.
New show faucet.
Changed out the batteries, added two 6 volt batteries for a total four 6 volt AGM batteries, 440 amp hours of storage.
New battery charger with remote panel.
Replaced the XM antenna after the slide out broke the antenna wire.
Changed the oil and filter.
Changed the transmission filter.
Changed the oil in the generator.
Made a bracket so I can put the wind sock pole the rear ladder.
Replaced the plug on the 30 amp 110 power cable.

Anyway looking forward to 85 degree weather and some sun.

Sparks, NV – Wednesday November 8, 2017

It is a good thing we did the long drive and got here yesterday.  The weather has moved in with some snow and a lot of wind in the Sierra Mountains. It looks like it will be Friday, Saturday or Sunday before the weather clears in the Sierra’s and then we get to deal with the Siskiyou’s.

While I was eating lunch the other day I noticed this on the jar of pickles I was eating.
Notice these pickles are a product of India.
Here is the front of the jar.
Farman’s pickles was started in Enumclaw, Washington.  We lived in Enumclaw until I was eight years old and I can remember the smell of pickles and chlorine as we swam in Pete’s Pool.  The main road at that edge of town is still called Pickle Factory Road.
Farman’s was purchased by Nalley’s of Tacoma and now it looks like several other companies after that.  By the way they still taste the same as they did 60 year’s ago.

Sparks, NV – Tuesday November 7, 2017

Our original plan was to drive to Lodi, Ca on Tuesday and then on to Sparks on Wednesday.  Winter weather is moving in Wednesday morning so we decided to drive all the way to Sparks on Tuesday, 500 miles. We were up at 5:00 a.m. and moving at 5:30 a.m. and got to Richard and Vickie’s at 4:30 p.m., I was tired.

This is our campsite for a couple of days.
They live on a hill and it takes a couple of blocks to get level.

Boron, CA – Monday November 6, 2017

Time to get moving.  We want to be home for Thanksgiving and also want to stop by my brother’s in Sparks, NV on the way.  We purchased 8 Lifeline AGM batteries and I need to pick up my 4 on the way home.

Today we are driving to Boron, CA and stay at a rest stop for the night.  We have stayed here a couple of times on our way through California.
