Battery Storage Upgrade – December 2017

I decided to upgrade our two 6 volt Trojan wet cell batteries to four 6 volt LifeLine AGM batteries.
This includes making space for the two additional batteries and upgrading the battery charging system.

New items for this upgrade:
4 Lifeline 6 volt batteries
Xantrex 60 Amp TRUECharge2 charger
Xantrex TRUECharge2 remote control panel
Xantrex Battery Temperature Sensor
New battery cables
Additional upgrade by adding a GoPower Pure Sine Wave 300 Watt Inverter for TV and Satellite system

The two original batteries are under the step.  The left pictures shows how the batteries set with the battery temp sensor in the upper right hand corner.  The right pictures shows how I had to fabricate a new battery hold down.  The black part of the hold down is original and I used plastic from a plastic cutting board to connect the two original hold downs on each battery.

My brother fabricated this steel rack to hold the two additional batteries in the storage compartment right next to the entrance door and the other two batteries.  I changed the original idea of stacking the batteries on top of each other and used some aluminum I had at home to create two wooden shelves so the batteries do not contact each other.  I purchased 20 feet of battery cable and ended up using 14 feet.
The wires on the right under the white cap are to plug in my portable solar panel.

The charger is under the refrigerator.

I put the remote control over the door.

With the two batteries in a storage compartment I needed to find a place for the items what used to set where the batteries are now located.
I built this two shelf rack.

Added an anchor point to the battery rack.
